By visiting French Market you’re immersing yourself in a commercial history that stretches back to the 18th century. The market started as a Native American trading post, and today it covers six blocks. Shops selling everything from clothes to souvenirs are accompanied by the farmers' market and the flea market. You can also find a selection of handicrafts and artwork produced by the local artists. Don’t miss the opportunity to visit one of many cafes, restaurants, and eateries, and taste the famous Louisiana cuisine and its specialties, such as jambalaya or gumbo. If you feel adventurous, and want to give yourself a true New Orleans experience, a gator on a stick might be just the treat for you. • Don't both going if you are expecting anything special. It's a pleasant enough market with some interesting food stalls but it's nothing out of the ordinary.

  • There wasn't a lot of stands out. Great place to visit. They had a few selections to grab quick bites. Most of the stands were that of a flea market. Only a few "NOLA" made stands. Most was imported.....  more

  • One of the oldest still running markets around. Was a really cool place to visit and glad that we found it while just riding scooters around town... Was a nice stop with cool unique feel to it. Lots of random stuff here for souvenirs etc... They also have stands with food and drinks, for sure stop by if in the area!
  • We loved this little market on a break from the hop on hop off bus tour. There were all kind of local vendors and foods to be purchased here and we spent a long while meandering and out of the sun. It was still hot. 😉 Food vendors in the center to have all kinds of local foods too. Bought some pottery and craft made stuff here as souvenirs. It gets more like a flea market the further back you go, but nice for something to see and do for a few hours.
