  • This is a smaller Viewpoint on the Desert View Road but even quite nice. There're enough parking slots and you can enjoy the view more quitely then at other view points.

  • This is the second stop east of the beginning of the Desert View Drive. This viewpoint gives you a unique view of the canyon you will not see from other viewpoints. And it is stunning.

  • This is another of the very good viewpoint stops you can make in route to the Desert View Watchtower. Situated between Grandview Point and Lipan Point, pull off the road here for spectacular views into the Grand Canyon. Views northward towards the North Rim in particular are very impressive. You can see many layers of the Grand Canyon from here. There is a small point that juts out into the canyon here on the right hand side of the viewing area, this is Lipan Point. Note: If you are not in a rush when making the drive out to Desert View Watchtower, this is a good viewpoint to see. Otherwise, if you need to limit your stops, we preferred Grandview Point and Navajo Point, where you can see the Desert View Watchtower alongside the edge of the crayon. Note: The Desert View Drive from the Grand Canyon Village is a round trip 50 mile drive. Best to allow 2-3 hours in order to adhere to speed limits and to allow a few stops along the way for the viewpoints as well as the Tusayan Museum and Ruin and main attraction, the watchtower.
  • A beautiful view of the Grand Canyon named after watercolor artist Thomas Moran. *photo below* Chasm of the Colorado, Thomas Moran, 1873
