Trip Planner: Europe / UK / England / Yorkshire / North Yorkshire / Malton / Eden Camp Modern History Museum
A restored prisoner-of-war camp from World War II, Eden Camp Modern History Museum stands as a reminder of one of England's most trying periods. Thirty-three huts are spread across a small area, with one building holding three human torpedoes and a "Sleeping Beauty" motorized submersible canoe. Other buildings recreate the conditions for a prisoner at the camp and house exhibits related to social and military history from 1914 to the present. Regular bus services running from nearby cities make daily stops near the museum, or you can take the train to Malton station. The site is dog friendly, including designated areas in the cafe. Eden Camp is a mutual interest between my boyfriend and I, having visited separately with our own families as children. We were excited to return yesterday as a couple and share the experience...

We have visited many museums up and down the country but nothing can compare to this. The thought and care which has gone into the presenting of the exhibits and displays is absolutely outstanding...

Wouldn’t go back! I remember visiting here with the school years back and having a good time. I took my two boys here thinking it would be very good and educational…. It wasn’t…. The only part they liked was probably the army vehicles, they was no rooms to have fun in, no interactive elements, everyone just seemed to be walking around bored. The staff member in the gift shop was miserable and had zero patience whilst one of boys picked a souvenir. If they wasn’t a small park inside we’d of left 20 mins earlier. You can’t expect kids to walk in each of the huts and read everything, so I’m struggling to see who the museum is aimed at? If it’s adults then kids should go FREE, if it’s for kids you need to add interactive learning parts to the museum or even have some activities and maybe items or answers they have to find?! Save your money and visit flamingo land next door instead. 👍🏼
Really good day out! Great facilities too, a really big dining area so plenty of space to eat inside and out, grest Cafe and the new toilet block is pristine! Some really interesting artifacts to see and the sound affects and nostalgic smells really bring it to like ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
