England's largest theme park, Alton Towers Resort rarely disappoints visitors of any age. If you want your adrenaline to flow, hop on the Smiler, the world's first 14-loop roller coaster. Let go of gravity and fly under footpaths and past trees and rocks on Air. Get wet on Congo River rapids and ride the runaway mine train. Let the special effects of the 4-D cinema dazzle you, and view over 300 species of fish, including sharks and rays, at Sharkbait Reef. Bring your bathing suit if you plan to visit the waterpark here. There are cartoon-themed attractions for little ones, and you can book a room at one of the on-site hotels if you wish to spend the night. • Lovely day spent with grown up children and grandchildren. Very good food in the burger kitchen. Sea life walk through was brilliant. But you don't need the silly pirate thing at the end. Great day...

  • Mostly good all round days. We are a family of 4, mum (35) dad (42) daughter (8) and daughter (2). We stayed in Splash Landings Hotel which I will review separately. We visited the theme park for two consecutive days and the water park on our last day. I downloaded the app before arrival which proved extremely helpful with the map and ride wait times. We managed to do everything we wanted but one of us had an RAP card so our wait times weren't as bad. No issues with any rides and enough of everything to keep us all entertained both days. We bought the unlimited refill cups which were really good as the weather was warm and we also purchased to £20 digital photo deal. Unfortunately the major let down was the food, we ate at the burger kitchen near gangsta granny and it was awful and overpriced, we also ate the chicken place in sector X, this was better but not by much and also still very expensive. The rides were clean, the park was clean, the staff were very friendly and as a plus size lady I had no issue with any rides other than having to squish in a little more but went on everything. We used the sky ride to navigate the park due to the 2 year old refusing to use a pram anymore (kids!!) Which saved us lots of time (we were able to use the RAP for this too).
  • Great rides, queues just too long. A day spent in term time and only able to go on a few rides. Wanted to purchase a fast track but the one we wanted it gave you the rides you could go on, much better if you can pick which ones. Huge place. Bring comfy shoes. Lots of food and facilities everywhere and great scenery. Friendly staff. The app is a must! Will come back to visit with the toddlers.
