Budapest — 4 nights

Pearl of the Danube
You might consider the city of Budapest, divided by the Danube River into two distinctive cities--Buda and Pest--to be essentially one large World Heritage Site.Budapest is known for historic sites, sightseeing, and nightlife. Your trip includes some of its best attractions: steep yourself in history at Fisherman's Bastion, pause for some photo ops at Shoes on the Danube Bank, take in the spiritual surroundings of Dohány Street Synagogue, and pause for some serene contemplation at St. Stephen's Basilica (Szent Istvan Bazilika).

If you are flying in from New Zealand, the closest major aiport is Budapest Liszt Ferenc International Airport. In December in Budapest, expect temperatures between 5°C during the day and -1°C at night. On the 20th (Wed), wrap the sightseeing up by early afternoon so you can travel back home.
