The only Mayan site built to overlook the ocean, Tulum remains a coastal paradise preserving the last vestiges of a pre-Hispanic civilization.
Go for a jaunt from Tulum to Playa del Carmen to see Xcaret about 54 minutes away. There's lots more to do: explore the ancient world of Tulum Archaeological Site, enjoy the sand and surf at Paradise Beach, glide peacefully along the water with some of the best stand-up paddleboarding in the area, and contemplate the waterfront views at Gran Cenote.
