Budapest — 10 nights

Pearl of the Danube
You might consider the city of Budapest, divided by the Danube River into two distinctive cities--Buda and Pest--to be essentially one large World Heritage Site.Bring the kids along to Fisherman's Bastion and St. Stephen's Basilica (Szent Istvan Bazilika). Appreciate the collections at House of Terror Museum and Hungarian National Museum. Change things up with these side-trips from Budapest: Valley of the Beautiful Women (in Eger) and Priest's Island (Pap-sziget) (in Szentendre). There's much more to do: steep yourself in history at Matthias Church, admire the striking features of Dohány Street Synagogue, pick up some local products at Central Market Hall, and get a sense of history and politics at Hungarian Parliament Building.

If you are flying in from Thailand, the closest major aiport is Budapest Liszt Ferenc International Airport. In June in Budapest, expect temperatures between 30°C during the day and 15°C at night. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 10th (Mon) so you can travel back home.
