Visit the statues of Lenin, Marx, and Engels at Memento Park, an open-air museum dedicated to influential figures from the country's Communist period. Designed by Hungarian architect Akos Eleod, the park features 42 of the statues that were removed from the city after the fall of Communism. Check out a replica of Stalin's boots, which became a symbol of the Hungarian Revolution of 1956 after the statue of Stalin was pulled down from its pedestal. Although located a distance from city center, the park is easily accessible via shuttle bus or public transportation from the downtown area. My partner specialised in the Soviet Union and Stalinism at University so was in her element!! Fantastic display of history. It’s great that this part of the Hungarian history hasn’t been squashed...

Most countries of the "Eastern Block" (ex soviet satellite countries) destroyed the statutes of that era (the art form is called "social realism"). In Hungary some of the statutes are put on display in this park. Absolutely worth to visit this place. When you purchase the entrance fee you get an illustrated, colorful, informative booklet (also available in English).
