Old Trafford, Stretford

#1 of 17 in Things to do in Stretford
Manchester United, one of the most popular soccer clubs in the world, makes its home at Old Trafford stadium. Constructed in 1920 with a capacity of almost 80,000, the stadium holds the title of second largest soccer stadium in England. While match tickets can be quite expensive, booking online in advance will help ensure the best price. To get a sense of the history of Old Trafford and a look behind the scenes at otherwise off-limit areas, like the players’ changing rooms, take a stadium tour and visit the state-of-the-art interactive museum. Due to the club's fame, book your tour in advance. For an extra-special experience, take a "Unique Tour," where you cruise to the stadium on a canal barge before taking part in the regular stadium tour. Stop by the megastore before leaving to pick up a jersey and other team souvenirs. • Great visit to Old Trafford. ManU have introduced a new multimedia approach and the only reason for 4/5 is the teething problems we experienced with either the set or the headphones not working. That ...  more »
  • I was here with family for the Manchester derby. Sadly we lost 2-0 but the buzz in this work of art is special! I have been here before for a few tours and matches and boy is this legendary!  more »
  • What can I say. This place was amazing. As a fan I truly lovely the tour experience here. Our tour guide Graham was fantastic and extremely knowledgeable. Seemed strange without anyone in the stadium on the tour day. The museum was fantastic too. I can't recommend this place enough. If you are a fan, get yourself down there.
  • I went here for a stadium and museum tour and visit on Sunday afternoon. I would suggest you give yourself sufficient time before or after the tour to visit the megastore if you want to buy anything, as it is a big store and you will easily loose track of time. The stadium tour is very well organized and we had an excellent guide who cracked amazing jokes on Liverpool and other clubs. The tour takes you through the players dressing room, press conference room, Sir Alex Ferguson stand and Sir Bobby Charlton stand. The stadium when empty has its own magnificence. The museum has all the trophies and jerseys of the club which takes you down the memory lane. I carried a backpack with me which was allowed in after security check. Overall, I was totally mesmerized by the visit and felt like a pilgrim on a pilgrimage. Highly recommended for all Manchester United fans to take stadium tour, it is a different experience.
