  • Simply put, you have to visit Hulme Community Garden Centre if you haven't already been. Forget what you know about other garden centres with their overpriced gift shops and commercial feel. HCGC is a...  more »

  • This is such a lovely place! The people are really helpful and friendly and they have lots of great community projects - as well as lots of plants and a cute café. They have a pot recycling area, so you can take any plastic pots for free, they also had Jerusalem artichokes free when we visited (welcoming donations). The lady there also encouraged us to help ourselves to some salad that was growing as they were clearing the bed. They have a refill station for shampoo/conditioner, washing up liquid etc which is a great idea. It is a great place to buy plants and just wander around and enjoy the greenery.
  • Yesterday I had one of my best days out in the city ! (I have been living here for over 8 years) Many thanks for the beautiful Toddler session , an unexpected treat for my kids. We even had a free taster of salad leaves. Then, the joy carry on when we had food at the ALL GLUTEN free Cafeooolala. We had to move the car after 2 hours as they are parking restrictions ;S. but nothing mayor. We did some shopping after the time ran out. So we decided to come back later and finish the day there. Of course we couldn't resist the super fabulous pancakes (yes gluten free) . I had a Avocado & Stilton ... I tell you what . I am coming back for more. ;-) My children were everywhere! the tree house, the polytunnels , all the tent. they just didn't want to leave. You don't need to spend loads of money to have a quality time. We had our seed allotment shopping done and of course it helps a lot that they have these pots in different for you to recycle at home for you to take away. We should have more places like this one in our beloved Manchester. All the money collected is invested in the garden center and I have seen the improvement over time. To the team of Volunteers you are a Constellation of starts!!! Cheers
