You might consider the city of Budapest, divided by the Danube River into two distinctive cities--Buda and Pest--to be essentially one large World Heritage Site.
Visit Fisherman's Bastion and St. Stephen's Basilica (Szent Istvan Bazilika) for their historical value. Bring the kids along to Thermal Spas and Matthias Church. Go for a jaunt from Budapest to Eger to see Eger Castle about 2 hours away. Next up on the itinerary: see the interesting displays at House of Terror Museum, contemplate the long history of Dohány Street Synagogue, take a stroll through Andrassy Avenue, and pause for some photo ops at Heroes' Square.

For reviews, more things to do, photos, and other tourist information, refer to the Budapest trip planner.

If you are flying in from Spain, the closest major aiport is Budapest Liszt Ferenc International Airport. In May, daily temperatures in Budapest can reach 25°C, while at night they dip to 11°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 14th (Sun) to allow enough time to travel back home.
