Originally a small fishing village, Portimão today serves as one of the most populated towns in the Algarve and also a favorite spot for sailing.
You'll enjoy a bit of beach vacationing at Praia Da Rocha and Praia do Amado. Take a break from the city and head to Scuba & Snorkeling and Tres Castelos Beach. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Portimao: Vila do Bispo (Telheiro Beach & Praia do Zavial), Olhao (Ria Formosa & Dolphin & Whale Watching) and Praia Vale Dos Homens (in Rogil).
