With the chance to visit a World Heritage-listed inner city, tours of Paramaribo remain among the most culturally enriching things tourists can do in Suriname.
Your cultural itinerary includes sights like Fort Zeelandia and Ready Tex Art Gallery. Your inner history buff will appreciate Saint Peter and Paul Basilica and Jodensavanne. Get out of town with these interesting Paramaribo side-trips: Fort Nieuw Amsterdam (in Nieuw Amsterdam) and Museum Bakkie (in Reynsdorp). There's lots more to do: make a trip to Waterkant (Riverside Boulevard), stroll around Palmentuin, contemplate the waterfront views at Commewijne River, and contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Suriname City Mosque.
