Part of the old town, Riddarholmen is a small islet housing a number of restored 17th-century palaces and a medieval burial church of Swedish monarchs. Surrounded by three private palaces, one of which has a medieval tower, the island's central square is dominated by the 19th-century statue of Birger Jarl, the founder of the city. Stroll to the western end of the islet for panoramic views of the bay and abounding photo opportunities, especially at sunset. • Stuck to Gamla Stan, this small peninsula is a welcome haven. The church is beautiful and the pedestrian area (Evert Taubes Terrass) nice, with a nice view of the canals, the town hall and the Monteliusvagen side. We loved it.

  • It is the same as not going to Stockholm. Riddarholmen, literally "the islet of knights", is a small island in central Stockholm, Sweden. It is part of Gamla Stan, Stockholm's old city, and houses numerous 17th-century palaces The best views from the Town Hall, if you can and want to pay, from the tower.

  • Beautiful part of Stockholm. The old City is full of beautiful old churches and palaces. You could spend the whole day exploring this part of town
  • So close to the Old Town, yet so much calmer. A great place to sit, relax and enjoy the view of the City Hall across the water. Interesting place to visit.
