Step back into the country's ancient history at National Museum of Archaeology. On display are artifacts highlighting Malta's Neolithic through Phoenician Periods, ranging from 5,000 BCE to 400 BCE. See some of the earliest tools used by the island's prehistoric inhabitants, which will give you insight into their daily lives. Also, look for the animal and human figurines, Phoenician pottery, and jewelry. This museum is a great place to start for those hoping to explore the temples and tombs of the island. You'll find the authentic versions of many of Malta's most famous artifacts, most notably the "Sleeping Lady" and "Venus of Malta" sculptures. • Being in a place like Malta, you should visit such a museum. With Love selected collection, everything is very logical and informative. It was interesting for us, adults and child 9 years. The museum will perfectly complement your knowledge of the island and be a pleasant addition to your trip.

  • The museum is not too big, but the collection may be there. The audio guide you can use for free (provided a deposit of €10, which you get back after your visit) is very extensive and informative. Interested in archaeology or history, or just looking for an alternative on a rainy day... Don't hesitate, take an hour to visit the museum.

  • There are some really nice exhibits in this museum, but the way they are displayed leaves much to be desired. The sleeping lady, one of the stars, is so far away it's almost impossible to see. Why not show it in a well lit square case that we can walk around? Good, but could be so much better.
  • We didn't get to see the insane but there was this really breathtaking entrance where we just had to make a few pictures. This big entrance really makes up for an eye catcher at this square. Our planning didn't include the Museum but if we had known we were walking right past it we would sure have made our visit. I'll include just a few other pictures of close by the entrance to give you a general idea of how beautiful the location is.
