Kap Hope, Ittoqqortoormiit

Stretching on a desolate, severe Arctic tundra lies Kap Hope, the last remaining populated settlement on Liverpool Land. Visit the local museum with photographs and traditional Greenlandic dress, the Lutheran church with a modest wooden ship hanging from a beam, and the handicraft shop selling goods made from arctic fox. Everything here--including colorful houses of blue, red, and bright green, as well as the friendly, attentive people--gives the impression of appealing, rigorous simplicity and peacefulness. Access to the village is by helicopter or ship.
